Extra info: Centuries ago, gnomes of the Mirlon Kingdom began exploring and mining the nearby caves.They were startled by the wealth one cave opening provided. They had quite literally struck gold…and more! Gems, rare flora, and ancient treasure, even. The deeper they went, the greater the treasure they uncovered. After many weeks, elders urged caution. Some thought that the gods themselves may have put this before them to test their greed. However, the temptation proved too great – the Mirlon gnomes went too far. Eventually they unearthed a fissure in the depth of the earth, and monsters overwhelmed the gnomes, spelling the end of their Kingdom.Their descendents would become humble forest dwellers, and the story of what happened to their ancestors would become a cautionary campfire tale called, “The Delver’s Gambit.” It often serves as a general-life metaphor for knowing when to“quit while you’re ahead.”
